I personally don’t want to emphasize lambda or at least lambda with beta substitution. I’m more interested in other binders like sum, max, integral, forall, exists. de Bruijn shifting doesn’t persay have to do with beta reduction, it can just be part of what happens in terms with binders and variables while you’re doing substitution in them.
